BLOG

Hello everyone and welcome to our second weekly blog!
Posted in Neem Tree Blog on August 28, 2019
It’s been mostly a week of sunny, clear blue skies with just a hint of cloud on the horizon that we hope to clear by next week.
We’ve just come off a wonderful #randomthings blog tour organized by the amazing @annecater. Keith Carter, author of The Umbrella Men, gave a fun and engaging interview at The Authors’ Show in the US and we will be linking to that interview in our next blog. We are gearing up for a cover reveal for our first non-fiction book, Modesty: A Fashion Paradox. We are excited for September 5th, publication date of the first in our MG The Three Hares adventure stories, The Jade Dragonball. So, great news all round. The only cloud on our horizon is that our Amazon reviews are still not formatted correctly. What is an indie publisher to do? Our onix feed is working well so it’s a downstream problem. We will set out to resolve this by next week!
Below is a taste of some of the lovely reviews Toletis received on the recent blog tour. We hope you enjoy them and are inspired to buy the book.
@BeverleyHasRead – Guest review by Lucy aged 7
Guest blogger Lucy, aged 71/2, kicked off the tour. “Lucy absolutely loved this book and I have it on good authority from her mummy that she has read it another five times since first receiving it in July. She was really inspired by the book and even drew some of the characters featured in Toletis.”
Lucy and her fabulous drawings, “I loved Toletis and the misty wonderful valley he lives in…”
@lelbudge – Orland Books Review
“This is one of the most beautiful books I have ever read. It shows the love of nature and what we are doing to destroy it…..it also shows how we could easily repair the damage with love and consideration.”
“Stunning and perfect for any age.”
@Lou_Bookmarks – Book Marks and Stages Review
“It is a book to inspire everyone at every milestone in their lives.”
“It shows a sensitivity as well as still having humour and adventure throughout it.”
@NerdishMum – Life of a Nerdish Mum Review

“I love how the author has captured how easy it is for a child to cross the boundary between reality and imagination”
@JoannaLouisePar – Broad Bean Books Review
“Toletis is a wonderful character to have narrating his adventures as he explores the nature world around him.”
“Beautifully translated with some amazing illustrations that just add to the tender storytelling the author has brought us.”

@LoveBooksGroup – Over The Rainbow Review
#5Stars
“Toletis is a beautifully written, magical book that my six year old and me loved reading together.”
“Toletis is wonderful little boy who is able to see all the magic in the world. The vivid descriptions of the natural world were fantastic and made me smile. It has made both of us appreciate the things we see on walks and has led to some lovely discoveries and discussions between us.”
@BookreviewB – B for Book Review
“Toletis is a quiet, sensitive and caring boy who isn’t afraid to show his emotions. ”
“One of the things I love most about Toletis is that it touches on big real life events such as the death of a family member in a wholesome and loving way.”
@purplekizz – The Midnight Review
“A magical book for all ages.”
“This book captures your imagination. Makes you slow down and look at the world around you a little differently. It is to be savored, preferably on a rainy afternoon snuggled on the sofa.”

We explore all communication channels when marketing a book e.g. podcasts, radio, national & local press, book reviewers on NetGalley and social media. We organise blog tours and bookshop signings if the author is available and pitch for the author to talk at literary festivals.
If the protagonists have key characteristics, such as being a painter or archaeologist, or if the story has protagonists with a disability that is central to their character, we will formulate a marketing campaign around that.
Assuming the book's subject matter has sales potential, and it fits within our list, we then identify any marketing 'hooks’. These range from the author’s personal story behind the book, its setting, and themes and issues raised.
